Why did the singer Gardi leave the stage?

SLP, Mexico.- The singer Gardi Vázquez Suárez burst onto the Cuban music scene at the dawn of the 21st century with a personal project that would launch him into stardom. However, since the late 1990s, he had shared the stage with musicians of the caliber of Pancho Amat and Compay Segundo.

Born on September 15, 1973, in Holguín, Gardi imposed himself on the Cuban musical scene with his fusions of genres and with a group that would position him on the Cuban and international scene: Gardi and his Orchestra.

With Bis Music, in 2002, his first album, Gardi, with hits like “Cuéntales” or “Sé que miientes”. Later, he would launch what you wanted and It stuck and it won’t go away.

However, despite having established himself in the artistic sphere, Gardi disappeared from the stage for almost eight years.

In an interview with presenter Abel Álvarez for the program Abel anywherethe musician admitted that, after losing his father in 2009, he went through a depressive and demotivated period that he described with great sadness.

“In 2009 I lost my dad to cancer. “Those who know me know how much I miss my dad, they know how much I suffered, they know that I fell to the floor and didn’t want to sing,” he acknowledged in the conversation.

With honesty, Gardi He narrated the episodes of pain that the death of his father caused him. “My dad was a mechanical engineer and that is something that I inherited from my dad, a fan of cars, mechanics, getting muddy. “Those who know, know that I used to go into workshops and I get under cars and it makes me very sad.”

“My dad’s illness changed my world,” explained the artist. “I lost motivation, I became disorganized, I lost focus, I stopped singing, I stopped attending certain radio and even television programs in the capital.”

Her father’s death was compounded by her mother’s depression, which aggravated her condition.

The accompaniment to father During the illness it was painful for the musician. “I preferred to be more of a son than an artist.”

He was with his mother during her depressive period and, he explained, adding that he lost the desire to make music. “I didn’t have a head, I didn’t have a head, sorry, I didn’t have a head, I didn’t have the desire, I didn’t want to, it didn’t come from my heart.”

“I wanted to be more of a son, to be in shorts and flip-flops with my mother, to put up with my mother when it was time to walk, to go to the bathroom, to share with my children,” said Gardi.
