The G20 Social forum, which will be held before the G20 summit, will feature 271 activities presented by different sectors of civil society in Brazil and other countries. THE event schedulebetween the 14th and 16th of this month, in Rio de Janeiro, was released this Friday (8).
The so-called self-managed activities will take place in the G20 Social Territory, an area that encompasses the entire Praça Mauá region, in Rio’s port area. Among the themes to be presented are environmental justice, health equity, confronting racism and colonialism, LGBTQIAPN+ rights and equal pay.
Plenary meetings are scheduled for Friday (15) with the participation of government ministers on the three priority axes for Brazil, in its mandate as president of the G20: combating hunger, poverty and inequalities; sustainability, climate change and just transition; and global governance reform.
At the end of the event, on Saturday (16), the organizers of G20 Social will deliver a document to the Brazilian president, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, and the South African president, Cyril Ramaphosa.
On the three nights of the event, there will be free musical shows in Praça Mauá, as part of the Global Alliance Against Hunger and Poverty Festival.
