A group of residents of the San Marcos district, in the Áncash region, brutally attacked five alleged kidnappers of a businessman. After learning of the alleged kidnapping in the Huancha sector, neighbors arrived at the scene to intercept the suspects.
Police officers detained their alleged kidnappers and when they tried to take them to the police station, the angry mob forcibly removed them from the patrol car.
In a desperate attempt to escape, one of the suspects clung to the patrol car, but was dragged and knocked to the ground. The other four were also subjected to a brutal beating by neighbors.
During the chaos, residents demanded that the men reveal information about their possible accomplices. One of them, trying to save his life, mentioned the name of an alleged ally in Lima. However, the fury of the crowd continued, and they finally set fire to the van in which the accused tried to escape.
Hours later, the five men were found dead on a nearby street, with signs of extreme violence. The bodies were taken to the Huaraz morgue, while the Criminal Investigation Division (Divincri) and the prosecutor’s office began investigations. In addition, a kidnapping complaint was filed in which two people were injured.
