The mayor of Caracas, Carmen Meléndez, traveled to the UD2 sector of the Caricuao parish, where this Thursday an slope caused the collapse of a house, resulting in two deaths.
Meléndez explained that more than 300 members of the citizen security forces, including the Bolivarian National Guard, police and Civil Protection, responded to the emergency and will continue to provide support to families in the sector, especially those most affected.
“In attention to the community of UD2, in Zone A, Terrace 1 of the Caricuao parish, due to the landslide of a slope that affected a group of homes, causing the unfortunate death of two people.”
The slope caused by a pipe break
It should be noted that the earthen slope was caused by the breakage of a drinking water main pipe, as reported by General Pablo Palacios Salazar, commander of the Caracas Fire Department, on his Instagram account.
In the three-level home there were two women, who were identified as María Gil, 79 years old, and Erika Gil, 49 years old, mother and daughter respectively.
Rescue personnel from the Caracas Fire Department, Grumae Emergency Assistance Brigade, as well as Civil Protection personnel, Ingram, and officials from the Cicpc Casualty Division were present to assist the victims, according to General Palacios Salazar. .
