Venezuela was present at the celebration of the 31st anniversary of the Foundation Day of the National Human Rights Commission of India.
The Venezuelan ambassador in New Delhi, Capaya Rodríguez González, was part of the numerous national and international personalities who attended this ceremony. During the event, the head of the Venezuelan diplomatic mission exchanged opinions with senior representatives of the aforementioned commission.
Rodríguez González raised the possibility of establishing a bilateral exchange that would allow for an enriching discussion on human rights, a fundamental value in the management of President Nicolás Maduro. This initiative seeks to strengthen ties between both nations and share experiences regarding fundamental rights.
The commemoration of the founding day of this commission underlined the commitment of this institution to the protection and promotion of human rights in India. Keynote speaker Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar highlighted the Indian government’s effort to feed more than 850 million people with free ration since the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic, without any distinction.
In his remarks, Dhankhar praised his country’s comparative record on human rights and warned against forces trying to discredit India in this area.
