Man who caused forest fire that killed three people will spend 10 years in jail

Police officers belonging to the Calca Police Station (Cusco), after a long intelligence work, captured a subject with a valid arrest warrant, for having caused a forest fire in 2016, which caused the death of three people.

According to the police, Walter Ccahua Quispe (32) was requested by the Mixed Court of Cuscofor the crime against natural resources in its form of illegal trafficking of forest products.

The arrest took place in the vicinity of Ucayali street in the province of Calca, where the accused was arrested by order of the Mixed Court of Cusco, being taken to the Calca Police Station to continue legal proceedings.

Only last year in the Cusco Region nearly 400 forest fires were recorded, being one of the regions with the highest incidence of these emergencies at the national level.
