Multilateral AgroAlba project launched

The governments of Venezuela and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines signed a Memorandum of Understanding this Wednesday for the launch of the AgroAlba multilateral project, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported.

The Venezuelan Foreign Minister assured that “today is truly a day to celebrate this initiative that we can definitively achieve after years of projection and visualization.” Likewise, he highlighted that “Venezuela has achieved, thanks to the efforts of the Ministry of Agriculture in recent years, an important development in terms of agricultural production,” while ensuring that imports have moved at a fairly accelerated level like never before. seen in the country.

The Minister of Agriculture, Forestry, Fisheries and Rural Transformation of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Saboto Caesar, was also present at the signing.

Sustainable development

The subscription of this instrument aims at strategic cooperation in various areas between both nations, with the AgroAlba project being economic integration between the peoples of Latin America and the Caribbean.

AgroAlba is the achievement of the objectives set out in the ALBA-TCP Strategic Agenda 2030, as well as a step to guarantee food security, based on the founding principles of solidarity, cooperation and complementarity of the Alliance.

The executive secretary of ALBA-TCP, Jorge Arreaza, thanked President Nicolás Maduro Moros for “the initiative, with criteria of solidarity, of this new program of our alliance,” guaranteeing not only food security but the necessary investment in the countries to develop the agricultural sector, exports and generate jobs, “showing again the solidarity capacity of the countries” of the regional bloc.

For his part, the Minister for Productive Agriculture and Lands of Venezuela, Menry Fernández, stated that “it is a splendid opportunity that materializes the true integration of the peoples of Our America of Latin America and the Caribbean,” which is based on the thought of the liberator Simón Bolívar, Commander Hugo Chávez, Fidel Castro and all those who worked for many years in the construction of that dream, ensuring that “it is time for us to lay the cornerstone of South American freedom.”

The ceremony was attended by the ambassador of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines in Venezuela, Gareth Bynoe; Agribusiness Development consultant, Guy Alexander Langton; and on the Venezuelan side, the Minister of Popular Power of Industries and National Production and president of the International Center for Productive Investment (CIIP), Alex Saab; the vice ministers of Foreign Affairs for International Communication, Camila Fabri, and the Caribbean, Raúl Li Causi.
