Olympic medalist Rebeca Andrade was announced this Wednesday (6) as one of the ambassadors for the next edition of the Youth Games. The main multi-sport competition among young people in the country, organized by the Brazilian Olympic Committee (COB), will be held between the 13th and 28th of November in João Pessoa, Paraíba.
“I’m really looking forward to meeting these kids, to celebrate this moment that is so important and special. And not just for them, but for me too. These boys and girls are the future of our sport, they could be representing our country in World Cups, Youth Olympic Games, Pan-American Games, Olympics in the coming years. May they make the most of every opportunity, every moment, because it is part of the learning process and part of the process for those who dream of being an athlete”, declared the athlete, who won four medals in the last edition of the Olympic Games, which were held in Paris (France).
“For the COB [Comitê Olímpico do Brasil] It is an immense honor to have Rebeca Andrade present as ambassador for the 2024 Youth Games. Her historic performance at the Paris Olympic Games is still alive in the memory of all Brazilians and is certainly an inspiration for the more than 4 thousand young participants of the competition. She is a model inside and outside the gym, a reference of success. Having our country’s greatest Olympic medalist in history sharing her experiences with young people will be a privilege and will make the event in João Pessoa even brighter”, declared the president of the COB, Paulo Wanderley Teixeira.
The Youth Games will bring together more than 4 thousand teenagers (2,113 girls and 2,095 boys from the 27 federation units) in João Pessoa.
