The province of Sullanaparticipated in the Third National Multihazard Drill 2024 at night that took place on Tuesday, November 5, demonstrating the response and coordination capacity of its institutions and emergency teams in extreme situations.
For this occasion, the esplanade of the popular urbanization “La Videnita” was designated as ground zero, where an earthquake followed by a fire was simulated. First response teams, such as the First Cavalry Brigade of the Peruvian Army, the National Police of Peru, the Fire Company No. 43, Enosa, the Luciano Castillo Colonna Health Subregion, Serenazgo, Civil Defense and the Operations Center Local Emergency (COEL), came together in a display of coordinated work to protect citizens.

During the drill, the Army and the National Police evacuated and rescued six people trapped in homes, while the Firefighters controlled a fire on the sports field. Enosa cut off the power supply and secured downed cables to prevent accidents. The Health Subregion installed tents to care for seriously injured people, and Serenazgo supported the transfer and assistance of those affected. In addition, a command post was set up where representatives from each institution met to coordinate response actions.
The objective of this drill was to raise awareness among the population about the importance of prevention and preparation for natural or human-caused disasters. The Deputy Manager of Risk and Disaster, Eng. Alejandro Silupu, highlighted the commitment of the mayor of Sullana, Eng. Marlem Mogollón Meca, to strengthen preventive actions, pointing out that each effort contributes to the protection of the community and the reduction of risks against emergencies.
