The Electoral Board of the Justicialist Party (PJ) has proclaimed Cristina Kirchner as president of the party, marking a significant milestone in Argentine politics. This decision came after an internal electoral process that was marked by controversy and judicialization.
The governor of La Rioja, Ricardo Quintela, who had presented an alternative list, decided not to continue with the judicialization of the conflict, paving the way for the proclamation of Cristina Kirchner.
The process began when the PJ Electoral Board challenged Quintela’s list, arguing that it did not meet the necessary requirements, specifically regarding the endorsements required to participate in the internal election.
Judge María Servini, with electoral jurisdiction, rejected Quintela’s request to suspend the party elections and endorsed the resolution of the Electoral Board. This left Cristina Kirchner as the only viable candidate for the party presidency.

This decision was seen as a gesture of unity and a step towards consolidating Kirchner’s leadership in the PJ. The “Homeland First” list, headed by Kirchner, was the only one to meet the requirements established in the electoral schedule. The former president will formally take office on November 17.
