Ana María Machado: We have said enough to fascism that threatens peace

The vice president of the National Assembly of People’s Power of Cuba, Ana María Machado, highlighted that the parliamentarians who gathered in Caracas said “enough with fascism and neo-fascism.”

During his speech at the closing of the World Parliamentary Forum Against FascismNeofascism and Similar Expressions, the Cuban legislator highlighted that the declarative positions of the forum are accompanied by work routes and concrete agreements.

“We have said enough to fascism, we have said enough to neo-fascism, we have said enough to all similar behaviors that threaten peace and the legitimate rights of our people,” he said.

The parliamentarian highlighted that the international representatives also said “enough to the hegemony” that North American imperialism wants to impose. “That government is capable of exporting the war of aggression, of carrying out genocidal acts against our people,” he asserted.

Likewise, he condemned the imposition of unilateral coercive measures against the free peoples of America.

Ana María Machado highlighted the role of youth, women and parliamentarians in general who participated in the agreements reached, which show “how to express ourselves in social groups, in spaces of participation, making legitimate demands in compliance with those issues that affect and undermine stability and peace in the world.”

Legacy of Bolívar, Chávez and Fidel

The representative of the Cuban AN thanked the Venezuelan authorities for holding the Antifascist Forum. “It is also an occasion to express our appreciation to the Venezuelan people,” he added.

Additionally, he highlighted the leadership and legacy of [Simón] Bolivar, [Hugo] Chavez and Fidel Castro. “Let’s raise that same voice, let’s look for everything that unites us and put aside our differences. Let us nurture unity as a way to reach peace,” he said.

Finally, Machado congratulated the electoral victory of President Nicolás Maduro: “for the success of the process and the Bolivarian civil-military unity and that beautiful work that is being built together here in Venezuela.”
