Councilor Malvina Sarett of the Colorado Party, requested at the Departmental Board that the Executive carry out a recreational walk on Colombo Street (continued by Dr. Daniel Fosalba, behind Public School No. 2) in the city of Colonia, and in the section between Intendente Suárez and Washington Barbot streets.
The proposal was made in April asking that it be similar to the one found on the wooden dock, in the area where the old prefecture was.
Councilor Sarett proposed “making a street with cobblestones, stones, with the placement of lanterns, benches, with a view of the river, seeking to generate a place of recreation and leisure for the colonists and visitors.”
The concern received approval and in fact the work has begun, through Abbreviated Public Tender N.43/2024, awarded to the company Ebafox SA, of the “Paseo Héctor Colombo”.
Sarett stated that “it is a memory of an outstanding neighbor, it is the way to recover an area of Colonia, create a new space, give a new point of attraction to the city, generate a movement of both residents and tourists and together take care of the historical and cultural heritage that we have as a city” Héctor Colombo García (died on 03/21/1996) stood out in his youth in sports, then in the field of commerce and was a promoter of the Association of Retirees and Pensioners of Colonia .
