La Vega.- The Council of Aldermen of this municipality approved to revoke the resolution that accepted the resignation of Vice Mayor Amparo Custodio.
The new resolution was approved with a vote of eleven votes in favor of 17 councilors present.
In this way she will be able to occupy the position that the people gave her along with former mayor Kelvin Cruz in the last municipal elections where they achieved more than 77 percent of the votes.
The measure was adopted at the request of representatives of dozens of neighborhood council associations, community organizations and social leaders of La Vega who asked to return to the normal functioning and development of the town hall.
Likewise, Custodio sent a communication in which she explained that she is in the best position to assume the position of mayor after reflecting on so many requests from personalities from La Vega who have recommended that for institutional peace and tranquility her return to the municipality is the most convenient.
The community leaders explained that the current interim mayor, Joel Martínez, has good intentions and capabilities to take charge of the demands of La Vega but the same interim status prevents him from operationalizing the projects that the community needs.
It is recalled that Amparo Custodio and Kelvin Cruz were among the best voted in the last February elections, reaching a vote higher than 77 percent of the votes cast.
Amparo Custodio is a prominent biology teacher at the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo and a senior leader of the Frente Amplio party who has earned the respect and admiration of her people.
In the political sphere, she has been elected councilor of her community and subsequently selected as vice mayor on three occasions, accompanying Kelvin Cruz on the ticket of the Modern Revolutionary Party and allies.
