They dismantle pranato in El Dorado prison and capture 17 ringleaders

A total of 17 Pranes were captured inside the Eastern Region Penitentiary Center located in El Dorado (Bolívar), according to military sources.

The subjects maintained a criminal structure that trafficked drugs and subjected the prison population with charges for family visits, transfers to court and telephone calls, among others.

Alerted to this situation, the Ministry for the Penitentiary Service planned an intervention at the aforementioned prison establishment carried out at dawn this Tuesday with the participation of the Bolivarian National Guard (GNB) and the Immediate Response Group of Custodians (Gric). The procedure was called Operation Gran Cacique Guaicaipuro.

During the takeover of the prison, three guards assigned to the Penitentiary Ministry were captured who were allegedly dedicated to hiding cell phones and then renting them to prisoners.

Three GNB agents were also detained “for attempting to enter the prison with a fragmentary grenade,” says a preliminary report to which we had partial access.

The officials seized 353 knives, two rifles, seven pistols, two revolvers, a shotgun, a submachine gun and a fragmentary grenade, according to a preliminary report.

They also seized their own telecommunications instruments, including 278 cell phones, two Starlink antennas, 150 mobile phone chargers, a tablet, 20 routers and 200 meters of cables.

In secret compartments of the jail, officials located 130 marijuana onions and seven liters of rum.

The Penitentiary Ministry plans to evict the El Dorado prison, which is why it has begun a census of 1,396 prisoners awaiting transfer to other establishments.

In the midst of this check, they detected 246 prisoners who warranted medical attention, for which the Penitentiary Ministry installed a team of specialists who approached these patients.

Last year, the Government intervened in seven prisons from where criminal structures operated, with an impact not only on the inmate population but also on the towns near the establishment. But, in addition, from these prisons, governed by pranes, acts of violence were brewed for political purposes, as stated at the time by the then Minister of the Interior, Remigio Ceballos.

This series of interventions began on September 20 with the seizure of the Aragua Penitentiary Center, located in Tocorón. Later it was the turn of Tocuyito (Carabobo), Puente Ayala (Barcelona, Anzoátegui), La Pica (Maturín, Monagas), Vista Hermosa (Ciudad Bolívar), Trujillo and San Felipe (Yaracuy).
