After being sworn in as head of government, the Iztapalap native announced that she will take the Las Siemprevivas strategy to the rest of the capital.
“We will implement the Las Siemprevivas strategy in honor of the first feminist workshop by Rita Cetina from Quintana Roo, in Yucatán, in the southeast, who called it this way: ‘La Siempreviva’, which consists of a strategy of going house to house combating violence in the family,” he said on October 5 at the Metropolitan Theater.
The origin of “Las Siemprevivas”
With 230 women specialists in areas such as social work, psychology and law, they began with door-to-door visits to homes to raise awareness about family violence, especially against women.
The territorial strategy was expanded by adding community counselors in charge of visiting 14 priority neighborhoods, for concentrating the largest number of investigation folders for family violence and violence against women according to data from the Attorney General’s Office of Mexico City.
In March 2021, the first Casa de las Siemprevivas was opened at the UH Vicente Guerrero, a space where women can receive legal and psychological advice, as well as support for victims or in situations of risk of violence, in addition to being channeled for care. more specialized in other government bodies in cases where it is required.
In total, during Brugada’s administration in Iztapalapa, 14 Houses of the Evergreens were opened in the priority colonies, 10 of them installed within Utopías and four more in external locations.
