Santo Domingo.- Mrs. Altagracia Castillo, affectionately known as “Tatica,” a prominent Dominican archivist and documentary filmmaker, recognized for her invaluable work in the organization and preservation of information in important media outlets in the country, has passed away.
Throughout his career, Castillo contributed to the archives of prominent media outlets such as El Sol, La Noticia, Circuito Corporán, Radio Mil, El Nacional, Hoy and El Siglo, where he also implemented a unique archiving system.
Castillo is the mother of Laura Vargas Castillo, attorney general of the Court of Appeal and national director of Children, Adolescents and Family, and Isaac Vargas Castillo.
The renowned archivist also leaves three grandchildren and is the sister of Faruk Miguel, Dominican ambassador to Haiti, Saad Miguel and Martha Castillo.
The remains of Mrs. Altagracia Castillo will be laid to rest starting this Monday at noon at the Blandino Funeral Home, on Abraham Lincoln Avenue.
The funeral will take place on Tuesday at 10:00 am at the Cristo Redentor Cemetery, where family and colleagues will pay a final tribute, celebrating the legacy of a life dedicated to the documentation and preservation of history in Dominican journalism.
