After two hours of testing, at 3:30 pm (Brasília time), students who took the first assessment of the 2024 National High School Exam (Enem), this Sunday (3), were able to leave the exam location without their question booklet. . In Brasília, candidates, in general, left with a good impression of the evaluation. They answered questions from the language and human science tests and enjoyed the essay topic.
“I found this Enem much easier than the others. The objective part covered a lot of things that are happening today, such as the floods in the South, Covid and the consequences of memory loss. Furthermore, the newsroom brought up a topic that should have been addressed a long time ago and has finally arrived,” said Carliane Pinheiro Diniz, 29 years old.
Experienced in Enem, she has a degree in nursing and is now seeking a second degree in psychology. To do this, he arrived early at the exam site, an hour in advance, with the material well studied and prepared for the essay, which this year brought the theme “Challenges for valuing African heritage in Brazil“.
“I discussed the racial rights of black people, because our rights are often not valid, many people ignore the rights we know we have”, he said, confidently.
At 66 years old, Maria de Fátima Alves left the test site happy. “I loved it and I think I got a good grade. The essay talked about African culture, and I really like it. I talked about carnival.”
The candidate said she didn’t have a high school diploma, but she dreamed of being a doctor and taking care of people, but she had to take care of her family first.
“I worked for my daughter to study first, she studied, graduated and is now a lawyer and is already working. Now it’s my turn to also go to college. I’m going to try medicine to become a family doctor, if that doesn’t work out I’ll go into nursing”, she reported.
Not all candidates were so comfortable with the first day of the test. Giulia Balaban, at 18 years old, has not yet finished high school, but decided to take the Enem to gain experience.
“I think that entrance exams, in general, are a test of resistance, basically. We have to sit in an uncomfortable chair, in a room full of people. It’s stressful, but as I’m well trained at school, I think I could have done well.”
For the candidate, the questions were well prepared and the level of difficulty was not high. “I’ve done a lot of simulations and I thought they were really good. The essay was about a very cool topic, which is the appreciation of African culture in Brazil”, he says.
Starting at 1:30 pm, in 140,000 testing rooms spread across 1,735 cities, more than 4 million students were able to take the first test this Sunday, which will end at 9 pm with the deadline for candidates who requested the video test resource in Brazilian Sign Language (Libras).
At 7pm, the regular time ends for most candidates. 8pm is the deadline for submission of responses by participants whose request for additional time has been approved.
Next Sunday (10), the second test of this edition will be administered with questions on natural sciences, mathematics and technologies.
