Santo Domingo. President Luis Abinader announced the construction of some 250 new school infrastructures by the end of 2025, which means in terms of high schools and schools, approximately 4,000 classrooms throughout the national territory.
The head of state, speaking at the inauguration of the first of two high schools that will house 1,775 students, said that this will represent about 4,000 classrooms, in addition to the 1,600 that are being built for initial education in addition to the work being done with the Institute. National Early Childhood Care Center (Inaipi) through the Early Childhood Care Centers (Caipi).
«We are working for what has to be a great leap, in four years, which is a better education and of course a better quality of that education that leads us to prepared boys and girls who can face a modern world, with more and more demand, greater technology and that presents us with greater challenges»he expressed.
He stated that he works every day to improve the quality of education and it is done together with the educational community and we are doing it consistently and that is evident in local and international indicators.
He called for continuing to work together to achieve the objectives set in terms of physical infrastructure and quality of education.
Inauguration of the Aida Bonelly de Díaz High School
The first of the educational establishments inaugurated by the ruler was the Liceo Aida Bonelly de Díaz, in the municipal district of Pantoja, which will benefit 900 students who will forge their future in the classrooms of the facility for which they waited for 13 years.
The educational center has 28 standard classrooms, three three-level blocks, a dining room for 360 students, a mixed field with stands, infirmary, teachers’ lounge, laboratories, bathrooms, among other areas.
At the event, the Minister of Education, Ángel Hernández, said that the head of state with his wisdom decided to finish all the schools that are in the process of construction.
He highlighted that education is the basis for development and the effort made to provide schools with the tools to make them better every day.
He called on parents to accompany their children in the pedagogical process and follow up at home on the tasks assigned to students to complete learning.
High School Prof. Justo Antonio Caba Javier
Later, President Abinader inaugurated the Prof. Justo Antonio Caba Javier High School, in the municipality of Pedro Brand, to benefit 875 students in the area.
Also, Minister Hernández promised that the educational center would be a Polytechnic with the provision of several computer classrooms and another classroom would be converted into a kitchen.
«We promise that in the next few days, those laboratories will arrive. We can also do the kitchen area, pastries»stated the minister.
The educational facility has 25 standard classrooms, three blocks of 3 levels each, two mixed fields with a bleacher, a dining room for 360 students, an infirmary, a library, a teacher’s lounge and bathrooms.
The director of School Infrastructure Maintenance of the Ministry of Education, Fernando Taveras, participated in the activity; the delegate of the Government, Nelly Hernández, representing the governor, Lucrecia Leyba; the mayors of the Los Alcarrizos municipality, Junior Santos; of the municipal director of Pantoja, Miguel de los Santos and of Pedro Brand, Ramón Pascual Gómez.
