Several Brazilian municipalities announced free public transport for those enrolled in the 2024 National High School Exam (Enem) who will take the tests this Sunday (3) and next, November 10.
In 17 Brazilian capitals, the free pass will only be valid for some of the available modes such as subway, trains, buses or shared bicycles.
In other Brazilian cities, local managers announce measures related to transport, such as: increasing the number of lines in circulation, activating lines that normally do not operate on Sundays, extending opening hours during races and reducing intervals between trips.
During the month of October, the Brazilian Union of Secondary Students (Ubes), which represents around 40 million students in the country, asked the state and Federal District governments and the city halls of the 27 Brazilian capitals to provide free public transport for those enrolled in the exam, with the aim of ensuring the participation of as many young people as possible.
According to the institution, on average, around 48% of students registered for the exam missed exam days due to financial difficulties in paying for public transport tickets.
