Firefighters close work three days after fire in the Brás region

Three days after a large fire hit a shopping mall in Brás, the Fire Department announced this Saturday morning (2) that it had successfully completed the aftermath work. Shopping 25 Brás, located on Rua Barão de Ladário, in the central region of the capital of São Paulo, caught fire last morning Wednesday (30). At least 24 vehicles and 76 agents worked to fight the flames.

Civil Defense estimated that at least 200 small stores in the mall were hit, and the roof of the building collapsed. Traders estimate that losses will reach more than R$25 million.

After carrying out an inspection of the site yesterday (1st), the governor of São Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitas, announced that he will provide R$100 million in emergency credit to help store owners recover losses.

According to the São Paulo government, store owners will be able to request access to credit starting next week.

The Brás region is well known for its popular commerce. According to the state government, the region has around 6,000 popular stores.
