In September this year, oil and natural gas production in the pre-salt region was 3.681 million barrels of oil equivalent per day (boe/d), the highest volume ever recorded. The participation of pre-salt in national production was also a record, reaching 81.2% of the total. The information is from the National Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels Agency (ANP).
In the month, total oil and gas production in the country, including all environments, was 4.539 million boe/d.
According to the ANP, natural gas production was 169.92 million cubic meters per day (m³/day), also setting a record. This is an increase of 6.4% compared to August 2024 and 7.6% compared to September 2023.
National oil production totaled 3.470 million barrels per day (bbl/d), an increase of 3.9% compared to the previous month and a reduction of 5.5% compared to the same month in 2023.
Pre-salt
The volume of 3.681 million boe/d produced in the pre-salt represented an increase of 6.3% compared to the previous month and 2.4% compared to September 2023. Of this total, there were 2.864 million bbl/d of oil and 129.90 million m³/d of natural gas. Production was carried out through 153 wells.
Use of natural gas
In September, natural gas utilization was 97.9%. 56.87 million m³/d were made available to the market and the burning was 3.63 million m³/d. There was an increase of 0.6% in burning, compared to the previous month, and 8.3% compared to the same month last year, according to the ANP.
Origin of production
During the month, offshore fields produced 97.6% of oil and 83.6% of natural gas. The fields operated by Petrobras, alone or in consortium with other companies, were responsible for 90.54% of the total produced. Production originated from 6,428 wells, 495 of which were offshore and 5,933 onshore.
Fields and facilities
In September, the Tupi Field, in the Santos Basin pre-salt, was the largest producer, recording 850.91 thousand bbl/d of oil and 43.59 million m³/d of natural gas. The installation with the highest production was the FPSO Guanabara, in the shared Mero deposit, with 182,028 bbl/d of oil and 11.95 million m³/d of gas.
