MIAMI, United States. – Cuban singer Jorge Junior Hernández Carvajal, leader of the group Los 4, along with his son Jaide Hernández, were detained at the Tocumen International Airport (Panama) this Wednesday, after an incident on board a Copa Airlines flight with destination to Peru.
According to official Panamanian sources consulted by Martí Newsthe arrest was the result of “a behavioral situation” carried out by Hernández, who refused to comply with the crew’s instructions.
“The Lord [Jorge Junior] He had a health problem and the airline recommended that he get off the plane to receive medical attention. However, he refused and this triggered a conflictive situation. “Apparently he hit an employee,” explained a Panamanian official who asked to remain anonymous because he was not authorized to speak publicly about the issue.
As a result of the altercation, the Panama Police intervened and arrested Jorge Junior, whom he took before a justice of the peace.
During the detention, father and son used the only phone call allowed by the airport authorities to report the situation through a live broadcast on Jaide’s Instagram profilewho is also the vocalist of Los 4.
In the video, Jorge Junior explained that they had been forced to get off a plane Copa Airlines bound for Peru, a country to which The 4 frequently travel to offer concerts. “If I don’t go to the concert it is because of this, I and Jaide are detained, for pleasure,” he said while showing his handcuffed hands.
“This is an injustice, they took us off the plane for pleasure. Now they want to put us in court for the pleasure of it…” added the singer. In addition, he called on his representatives in Peru to try to resolve the alleged misunderstanding: “Please run.”
The transmission shows the presence of around a dozen security personnel around the two detainees. One of them even ordered them to interrupt the transmission after just over a minute on air.
Although Jorge Junior reiterated that it was an “injustice,” he did not reveal the reasons why he and his son were expelled from the aircraft and detained.
