The deputy of Wide Front (MPP), Betiana Diazwas recently on the program Search engines where the parliamentary majorities that have been formed for the new Parliament that was just elected on October 27 were debated.
In response to the comment of journalist Miguel Nogueira, who spoke of “lack of parliamentary majorities,” Díaz responded that “no, there is no lack of parliamentary majoritiesthere is none, the Frente Amplio has a majority in the General Assembly. There is no majority in Deputies.”
Nogueira also added that “in the Senate, For special votes, there is no majority either.” To which the representative responded: “No, but that never existed, they are built, because in general they are two-thirds and no party has had two-thirds.”
And he proceeded to explain: “Because you have a parliamentary mechanismwhich is like a kind of ‘fourth chamber’, which is the General Assembly. If you do not have an agreement, for example, on a budget project, which came out without the agreement of Deputies, which went to the Senate and was modified, which returns to the Chamber of Deputies and is rejected, it goes to the General Assembly. The Broad Front will have the last word. That is why I say that governability in this country is provided by a Frente Amplio government.”
Schipani’s numbers and Díaz’s response: “You act like a cracker”
On the social network X.com, sharing two clippings in which Betiana Díaz makes these statements, the deputy of the Colorado Party, Felipe Schipaniin which to do a kind of mathematical calculation where it says: “48 deputies, 16 senators: 64 legislators. 64 out of 130 is not a majority. Representative @bettianadiazrey should review 3rd grade Mathematics.”
Faced with this tweet, Díaz did not hold back and responded: “Go study, you ridiculous piece.” Schipani asked him to exchange “without grievances” and asked him to “admit” that what he said in Buscadores “is not true.”
“Are you being a crack at tweeting because live and debating with me you only know how to get stuck, Felipe?” Díaz replied in another tweet in which he closed the comments.
The Broad Front representative refers to a television debate in which she asked him to explain what the security proposals were, but he asked to be given “a few minutes,” and began to turn pages of the government program that, apparently, he had not read. to go to that debate.
As of today, according to the most recent data from the Electoral Court, the Frente Amplio has 48 deputies and the coalition of right-wing parties has 49.
