The Ministry of Interior and Police reported this Thursday, October 31, about the dismantling of a criminal network that operated within the National Police and that, according to his conclusions, he was dedicated to ammunition theft of internal deposits in order to sell them privately.
The ministry indicated in a statement that a investigationled by the State intelligence agencies and with the support of the director of the police, Major General Ramón Antonio Guzmán Peralta, revealed that those involved in these activities illicit include both senior officers high-ranking as subordinates.
The note points out that the findings of the investigation were sent to Ministry Public for the due legal process to begin.
“This action is part of a firm commitment to legality and the strengthening of justice mechanisms in the Dominican Republic, guaranteeing that those responsible face the consequences of their actions,” the entity said in the statement.
Will strengthen supervision
As a result of this case, the Ministry of Interior and Police indicated that it will be implementing a joint supervision mechanism with the National Police “to guarantee efficient and safe management of the inventory of equipment and supplies.”
Furthermore, he highlighted that “this effort is part of the comprehensive strategy of control and transparency in the management of State resources, especially within the institutions of public safety”.
“This operation, focused on the structure internal of the National Policeis a fundamental pillar in the reform and transformation process institutional that the Government of President Luis Abinader is implementing in the National Police.
