Senator Cynthia López Castro announced yesterday that she is leaving her 21-year membership in the PRI and leaving the party bench for differences
with the leadership, this in the midst of the controversy that arose early on Friday when he left the plenary hall to not vote on the reform that prevents the filing of amparos and any other legal remedy against constitutional reforms.
She did not want to specify whether she would join Morena, she said that for now she will remain a legislator without a party, she insisted that she did not vote because she felt in poor health and rejected that she had previously consulted with Morena’s coordinator, Adán Augusto López Hernández. Later, the senator and leader of the PRI, Alejandro Moreno Cárdenas, revealed that López Castro was expelled from the moment in which, without any justification
left the session hall and did not vote against, as was the agreement of the PRI group. By statute, he added, that fact warrants separation.
