THE Brazilian Communications Company (EBC) released this Wednesday (30) the finalist songs of the 15th National Radio Music Festival and the 21st Rádio MEC Award. The traditional awards organized by public radio stations in the EBC aim to reveal and recognize Brazilian music talents in new works. 
The Rádio Nacional Music Festival received 736 entries this year and the 50 semi-finalist songs were performed on the broadcaster’s programming and submitted to popular voting.
The Rádio MEC Award received 470 compositions from all regions of the country, in addition to the submission of ten radio programs. The classified songs also went through popular voting and were broadcast on the station’s programming.
The list of finalists in each of the three categories – classical, instrumental and for children – is now available available on the awards website.
The Big Night of the Rádio MEC Awards will be at Sala Cecília Meireles, in Rio de Janeiro, on December 4th, when the winners will be announced. The Final Show of the Rádio Nacional Music Festival will be in Brasília, on December 2nd, at the LBV Theater.
The songs compete for the award in five categories: Best Song with Lyrics, Best Artist, Best Lyrics, Best Arrangement and Most Voted Song on the Internet.
Award
Since the 60s, always reinventing itself, MEC Radio promotes the awarding of new talents in the classical, instrumental and children’s music scene, in addition to radio production. A jury selects the applicants who are chosen in the next phase through popular voting. The competition features a great night celebrating Brazilian music when participants receive the prize.
Festival
The National Radio Festival was born in 2009 with the aim of revealing singers and composers of Brazilian Popular Music to Brazil. The artists selected by the public and the jury start to play on the program. National Radio and the 12 finalists defend their songs live at the Final Show.
Together with the Rádio MEC Award, the festival forms the musical axis of the EBC Public Communication Award, launched in July. The fight against misinformation, the resumption of incentives for national audiovisual production and the traditional recognition of the country’s radio production guide the three axes of the award.
