Senate will begin the process of updating pending laws

Senado iniciará proceso de actualización de leyes pendientes

SANTO DOMINGO.- The president of the Senate, Ricardo de los Santos, affirmed this Wednesday that the Upper House is prepared to begin a broad legislative process, which seeks to analyze and reach a consensus on all the laws that deserve to be updated, including Law 16-92. , on the Labor Code.

The representative of the province Sánchez Ramírez also said that other initiatives that require modification and that are included in the broad legislative agenda are Organic Law 138-11 of the National Council of the Judiciary and Law 176-07 of the District National and municipalities.

De los Santos maintained that the Law of the National District and the municipalities is the regulation that deserves the most attention, since it has a loophole in the aspect of replacing mayors, which has caused complex situations in recent times.

“We have three and a half years available to work on these laws, that is why we will begin the analysis process next week, and the senators are prepared to begin that day,” said the president of the Senate.

The legislator indicated that the legislative body will also resume the study of the Penal Code project and the Civil Code project.

The president of the Senate Ricardo de los Santos spoke during an interview conducted on the Hoy Mismo program, which is broadcast on Color Visión, Channel 9, where he also reported that the Special Commission designated for the selection of the members, holders and substitutes of the Central Electoral Board (JCE), will announce in the coming days the results of the evaluations to which the applicants to be part of the electoral body were subjected.
