Delcy Rodríguez: Itamaraty could be a Trojan horse in the Brics

The executive vice president of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, warned this Wednesday about the possibility that Itamaraty “becomes the Trojan horse of the Brics,” recalling the veto imposed by the Foreign Ministry Brazil to prevent Venezuela from entering the block.

In statements to Venezolana de Televisión from Vietnam, where she made an official visit, the vice president described the actions of the Brazilian Foreign Ministry as “baseness.” “The baseness of Itamaraty will be marked in history as a vile aggression against the Venezuelan people,” he said.

“This veto is irrational, it is hate, it is envy, it denies the essence of the Brics and that is why we think, I hope not, that Itamaraty does not become the Trojan horse of the Brics because that new world has already been born and Venezuela “He is in that new world,” he emphasized.

The Minister for Petroleum, also stressed that Venezuela had received the support of all countries to enter the bloc, except that of the Brazilian Foreign Ministry, which marked “a terrible page” in its history.

“What Brazil has done only shows deep envy of Venezuela. They believe that we can be the competition instead of understanding ourselves as what we are, countries that are in the same region, how we can add our complementarities, our potential to promote our region,” he stated.

Rodríguez indicated that the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Brazil, Mauro Vieira, lied to the President of the Republic Nicolás Maduro; to the vice president, the chancellor and the Venezuelan people.

“He thought he was doing harm to Venezuela, but in reality what the Itamaraty Foreign Ministry did is violate Article 4 of the Brazilian Constitution, which orders its Government to establish and promote relations of integration and regional union (…) It must also be said, not only did it violate its Constitution, but it also attacked the principles and values that inspire the Brics bloc. The Brics bloc is an anti-hegemonic bloc, in favor of multilateralism and Brazil could not rationally sustain that veto,” he said.

The vice president affirmed that they will continue working for the defense of Venezuela and its incorporation into highly relevant international spaces.

Cooperation relations with Vietnam

The executive vice president highlighted the meetings held with various Vietnamese authorities, including the president of that nation, Luong Cuong, with whom she reviewed the cooperation agenda and addressed how to expand it. “An extraordinary meeting with the president of Vietnam, we reviewed our international cooperation agenda,” he said and highlighted the good state of bilateral relations.

At the end of his tour, Rodríguez visited Ho Chi Minh’s house, where he toured the spaces that exhibit relics related to the Vietnamese leader, signed the guest book and received a replica of the button that the father of that country’s independence gave to the highest authorities who attended the venue.

Likewise, he paid tribute to the revolutionary leader at his mausoleum located in Hanoi, the country’s capital.
