The Mayor’s Office of Santa Cruz de la Sierra began the mandatory registration of public transport drivers, as reported by the Municipal Secretariat of Transit and Transportation. This measure applies to drivers of radio taxis, motorcycle taxis and those that operate under digital platforms.
The director of Traffic and Transportation, Marco Franco, explained in a video on social networks that registration allows you to obtain a driver’s certificate and vehicle.
Among the requirements, a photocopy of the identity card, driver’s license and a background certificate must be presented. Furthermore, the applicant you must pay Bs 60 as part of the municipal patent.
The Mayor’s Office stated, through a statement, that this registry is supported by articles 114 and 115 of the regulations of Law 1216/2019 on Comprehensive, Sustainable and Safe Urban Mobility.
For his part, Carlos Mamani, leader of the radio taxi drivers, expressed his rejection and declared that The sector is in a state of emergency. “We are upset; We ask the mayor, Jhonny Fernández, not only to call his official’s attention, but to dismiss him,” he said.
