Assembly commemorates the birth of Simón Rodríguez and Rafael Urdaneta

The National Assembly (AN), approved in its ordinary session this Tuesday, an agreement to commemorate the 255th birth of Master Simón Rodríguez.

Rodríguez was a pedagogue, philosopher and writer of historical, sociological content and a thorough knowledge of our America, the document cites.

In addition, it is highlighted that he played a fundamental role in history as a mentor and teacher of the Liberator Simón Bolívar.

In this regard, they agreed to “commemorate with the Venezuelan people the birth of teacher Simón Rodríguez as one of the most prominent philosophers, pedagogues and trainers of the 19th century.”

They highlight that through his ideals and knowledge of freedom, equality and patriotism to combat the injustices and abuses committed by the Spanish Empire, he influenced the Liberator.

Likewise, they approved promoting training plans for the recognition, teaching and learning of the teacher’s thought and legacy, as well as a historical journey through emancipatory and liberating education.

Representative Edgar Arteaga said that Rodríguez was one of the most important American intellectuals of his time, due to his deep knowledge and participation in revolutionary movements.

He recalled that Venezuela was declared free of literacy with the Robinson Mission, a guiding program that was recognized by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

236 years of the hero Urdaneta

This Tuesday, in plenary session, the agreement to commemorate the 236th birth of the country’s hero, General Rafael Urdaneta, was also approved.

Deputy Williams Benavides highlighted that talking about Urdaneta is talking about principles, values ​​and loyalty to the Bolivarian project. He also highlighted the vision and creation, in 1842, by the hero, of the Bolivarian Society to study the life and work of the Liberator Simón Bolívar.

Benavides said that “some right-wing historians do not forgive Urdaneta, who is loyal to the Liberator, who reads him to the Revolution.”

“We remember that patriotic, revolutionary Urdaneta, that supportive Urdaneta and defender of principles and values,” he expressed.

The document cites that it is agreed to commemorate the birth of the general with the people, for being a soldier with inspiration for fighting and patriotic loyalty, in the face of the oppression of the Spanish Empire, and that his legacy should be an example to follow for those who carry out work in the institutions of the State.

In addition, deputy María León referred to the general’s honesty and that Commander Hugo Chávez rescued his legacy.

León called to cultivate humility and the values ​​of General Rafael Urdaneta.

Likewise, the first vice president of Parliament, Pedro Infante, requested that the agreement be delivered to the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB).

Rafael José Urdaneta Farias was born in Maracaibo, Zulia state, on October 24, 1788 and died on August 23, 1845 in Paris, France.
