The team from Minas Gerais reached its second Copa Libertadores final thanks to the advantage built in the first leg of the semifinals, in which they defeated River 3-0 in Belo Horizonte. Now Atlético-MG awaits the clash between Botafogo and Peñarol (Uruguay), next Wednesday (30), to find out their opponent in the decision. Alvinegro won the first match 5-0.
The River Plate fan threw a big party at the Monumental de Núñez to try to support his team, who needed to score at least three goals to be able to decide the classification in the penalty shootout. However, the team led by Argentine coach Gabriel Milito showed courage and maturity to deal with the pressure created by the opponent. The highlight was goalkeeper Everson, who made difficult saves, especially in the final stage.
