Cancun, QRoo.- The United States ambassador in Mexico, Ken Lee Salazarhighlighted Mexico’s support for the world pacification regarding the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
“In this moment of danger for the world, we thank Mexico very much for the support it is giving,” said the diplomat.
He also recalled that during World War II, Mexico was one of the best allies of United States against Nazi Germany.
“But what happened in World War II, where one of the best allies of the United States was Mexico; and there we were in a time of humanity in which one way of seeing the world was that of those who promoted that war, but we won and freedom continues and democracy continues, it is a very good bond”.
During the closing of Meeting of the Governors of the South-Southeast with the U.S. Embassywhich was held in Cancun, Quintana Roo, the diplomat stated:
“I know that the president is very aware of all this, perhaps for this reason the economic relationship with Mexico and the United States is very important, and perhaps also for this reason the way the two presidents see North America. We are lucky, because they see the future here, in Mexico and the United States, not in China or Russia.”
Ken Salazar highlighted that there is a historical alignment between the presidents of Mexico and the United States, which allows for a better understanding.
“The two presidents, Biden and López Obrador, understand that the future of both countries comes in part because the economies are linked in both and that is not going to change, it is going to continue…. the future of democracy and a strong economy will be here, in Mexico, the United States and also Canada”, he stated.
Security in the Mexican Caribbean
The diplomat also announced that it was given to him by the governor of Quintana RooCarlos Joaquín González, the security strategy that has been deployed in the Mexican Caribbean to guarantee the security of the millions of visitors that the entity receives annually.
Lee Salazar highlighted that during the current administration of Carlos Joaquín González, the state police increased from 400 to 6,044, which is also accompanied by investment to security infrastructure that has strengthened crime prevention in the state.
Dorothy Ngutter, consul general in the Consulate General of the United States in Meridahighlighted the joint work that has been done with both the state government and the general government to provide accurate and timely information on any act of violence that occurs in the Mexican Caribbean.
On the previous day. yesterday, Wednesday, the diplomat said that “Cancun is a safe place; I think he’s so sure I’m going to bring my family here. I’m going to come for a few days because I feel safe. And if I did not have an official position as ambassador, I would like to be here because it is a divine place, it is a safe place,” said the United States ambassador to Mexico, Ken Salazar.
At the end of the first day of the Third Meeting of Governors of the South Southeast of Mexico with the Embassy of the United States of Americathe diplomat assured that on the issue of security they are working “as never before in the history of the US with Mexico, so close and so it will be.”
“The most important thing is security, that there is no impunity and in that we get along very well with the Mexican government, within the framework of the bicentennial security that we launched on October 11, there are the agreements in which we are working very well with all agencies of the Mexican government,” said Ken Salazar.
