The Minister of the Interior, Juan José Santiváñez, did not acknowledge, tonight, that he was wrong when he pointed out that the formerly incarcerated Iván Quispe Palomino was number two in the leadership of the Quispe Palomino brothers of the VRAEM.
In an interview on RPP, Santiváñez maintained that he is not going to comment on that issue because he has filed a complaint.
At another time, the head of the Interior, after remembering the string of crimes that, according to him, the brother of the Quispe Palomino family, pointed out that “they have sold him” as innocent.
Regarding the charges for which he had been imprisoned, he said that he had served time “for the murder of five ronderos, for the ambush of a Peruvian Army patrol; setting fire to nine vehicles (trucks and buses); for the murder of two police officers; for the capture of Ayacucho and (blowing up) two high voltage towers; for murdering Julia Huamaní and having shot her in the head.”
At another time, he recalled that he has not paid his civil compensation.
