The Attorney General’s Office (PGN) opened an investigation into the president of Ecopetrol, Ricardo Roa, due to the official’s failure to attend various summonses from the Congress of the Republic.

This complaint was imposed by David de Jesús Bettin Gómez, who is the secretary of the Fifth Constitutional Commission of the Legislature.
“By the letter dated October 16, 2024, this control entity was informed of the repeated absences of Dr. Ricardo Roa Barragán, president of Ecopetrol, to some summons that said commission made to him in order to exercise political control against to his management where he sought to address relevant issues for the country,” pointed out the document.

In addition, he asked the Fifth Commission of the Congress of the Republic to deliver a report specifying to the entity the times that Roa, in his capacity as president of the oil company, did not respond to the political control summons made by senators José David Name Cardozo, Daniel Pineda García and Didier Lobo Chinchilla.
Why has Ricardo Roa been summoned to Congress?
In recent weeks, several summons have been presented by the Legislature to the president of Ecopetrol, Ricardo Roa.
