Businessmen are getting ready for the Dian requirements that will come into effect. As established since its creation, the electronic invoicing process is preparing for a new change, as a result of the transition established by the National Tax and Customs Directorate, and from November 1 it will include new processes in the list of required documents at the time of purchase or sale of goods and services throughout the national territory.
Alejandro Silva, general manager of Sovos Saphety Colombia, explained that this change, driven by Resolution 000119, seeks to modernize the billing system in Colombia, with a special focus on small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) and recalled that the transition was established to give time to small merchants and ensure better implementation of the requirement.

“The digitization of documents such as transportation tickets and extracts Banking not only speeds up the issuance process, but also allows companies to improve their workflows, reducing operating times and costs. “This transformation is key for SMEs in Colombia to remain competitive in an increasingly digitalized market,” says Alejandro Silva, general manager of Sovos Saphety Colombia.
With the October changes, documents such as toll collection receipts, receipts for settlement of operations issued by the Stock Exchange and reports of operations in the agricultural and other commodities exchange were included, through which movements in agricultural markets are reported. . All of these must specify the amounts, products and discounts, if any.
What’s coming for November?
One of the first sectors that will be included from next monthis that of home public services, whose companies must issue electronic invoices for energy, water, gas and other consumption. This billing will be sent directly to the emails of registered users, facilitating traceability and payment control.
“We also have passenger transportation tickets, both in air and land transportation, the tickets will be issued electronically. “This speeds up the purchasing process and facilitates access to the travel document from any device, reducing the use of paper,” Silva said.
In third place are financial entities, which from November 1 will have the obligation to issue bank statements electronically and thanks to this, clients will receive their account statements via email. This in order to guarantee greater security in delivery and better organization of financial information.

“The fourth document that will be reviewed are the entrance tickets to public performing arts shows, whose organizers of cultural and entertainment events must issue electronic tickets for entry to performing arts shows. “Here we believe that the change would help ensure better ticket management and prevent ticket falsification,” added the spokesperson for Sovos Saphety Colombia.
Finally, there are movie tickets, whose responsible chains will adopt the electronic ticket, which will be sent to the customer’s email, facilitating the purchase process and allowing entry to movie theaters to be more agile and secure and generating a point of greater control over citizens’ consumption.
“The shift toward electronic issuance of public services and entertainment tickets is a victory for end users, who will now have greater control and access to their documents. “In addition, we are contributing to more sustainable and secure information management, while promoting environmental protection,” commented Silva.
These experts closed by highlighting that the digitalization of processes will benefit small and medium-sized companies by reducing operating costs; since it eliminates the need for printing and physical storage and thus lowers costs in materials and space.
