Santo Domingo.-Various social organizations and community groups of the country met last Sunday to work and articulate a common agenda of struggle for the defense of the social and environmental rights of the Dominican population, which they consider to be in decline in the current situation at the hands of the Administration of the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM).
They indicated in a note to the media that it is time to discuss a true fiscal transformation through the call for a Fiscal Pact, where the voices of society are heard and where all the initiatives that go forward are proposed in a democratic and participatory manner. in the direction of correcting inequalities, promoting unguaranteed rights and making the distribution of wealth fair.
At the meeting held at the Dominican Medical College (CMD), the platforms of organizations and social movements signed an agreement to consolidate and expand the articulation and coordination of the struggles that the Dominican population has been waging for the defense of their social and environmental.

For these organizations, the counter-reforms proposed by the Government exclude citizen participation, consolidate the privileges of the richest at the expense of the sacrifice of the poorest and the middle classes of society, reinforce the privatization of public assets and lead to serious harm. of the natural resources and livelihoods of a large part of the population.
Among the organizations present were the Citizen Forum, the National Popular Coordinator, the Coalition for the Rights and Life of Women, the Dominican Association of Teachers (ADP), the Coalition for Dignified Social Security and the National Peasant Articulation (ANC).
Also present were the Environmental Coalition of the Eastern Region of the Dominican Republic, Coalition of Social, Feminist, Environmental and Union Organizations of Cibao, Enriquillo Coalition, Popular Collective of San Francisco Macorís, Environmental Commission of the UASD, National Human Rights Commission (CNDH), Ecological and Popular Coordinator of Bonao, National Federation of Transporters La Nueva Opción (FENATRANO), Movement of Working Women (MMT), Classist Union of Workers (UCT) and Committee for the Defense of Neighborhood Rights, COPADEBA.
