JUFED asks the authorities to respect protesters
The National Association of Circuit Magistrates and District Judges (Jufed) called on local and federal authorities to respect the right of judges and workers of the Judicial Branch to demonstrate and indicated that they will go to international bodies to denounce the “use of force.” “against the people who protest.
“Using institutional violence against two judges who, together with judicial personnel, expressed themselves peacefully at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez, in defense of the rights of the members of the Judicial Branch of the Federation affected by the Judicial Reform, reflects the increase of government intolerance, which contradicts the democratic principles it claims to uphold,” he said in a statement.
Furthermore, he announced that judges and workers will continue to peacefully exercise their right to defend the autonomy and independence of the Judicial Branch of the Federation, because “in essence it affects the foundation of democracy.”
He added that international bodies will be used to denounce the use of State forces to prevent the defense of those rights.
