Alvaro Delgado after knowing the results of the elections: “There is an order not to let up”

Coalition and Delgado elections 2024

With an energetic tone, Delgado began by warmly thanking the militants of his party and the coalition, highlighting the union that characterizes this political project. “They don’t know the desire, they don’t know the energy,” he repeated, emphasizing the commitment that his team was assuming before a country that had spoken clearly at the polls. He thanked the militants of various political groups, from the Constitutional Environmentalist Party to the Colorado Party, underscoring the importance of diversity within the coalition and the courage of all those who came together to fight for a more prosperous Uruguay.

Delgado also sent a special greeting to his opponent Yamandú Orsi and the militants of the Frente Amplio, and highlighted that this was the fourth time that the coalition was the most voted in the country, reaffirming the legitimacy of his mandate. “Look, the polls spoke,” he emphasized, suggesting that the popular support given to the coalition is a clear indication that citizens support the proposed path. This continuity in popular support, according to Delgado, not only accredits the management of the current government, but also establishes a basis for the challenges that lie ahead.

In his speech Delgado committed to creating more jobs, improving investment and reducing inflation, which he considered essential to determine the quality of life of citizens. In this sense, the candidate outlined his vision of a more inclusive Uruguay, where social policies are a priority and where each inhabitant has equal opportunities, regardless of their place of residence.

Willing to move forward, Delgado announced the planning of the campaign towards the runoff, convening work teams to structure strategies that strengthen the coalition’s commitment to the Uruguayan people. “Tomorrow at two in the afternoon we will be getting together,” he expressed, projecting unity and determination. Furthermore, he emphasized that the coalition should not only be a tool to achieve power, but also a mechanism for social transformation.

The importance of each militant was highlighted by Delgado, who highlighted that the votes are counted one by one, suggesting that each effort and dedication of those who spent hours in the streets campaigning was essential to achieve the result achieved. “Those anonymous militants of the coalition are the ones who are going to build victory on November 24,” he predicted, projecting confidence in the human resources that support his campaign.

In an optimistic tone, Delgado mentioned the need to “exceed what we did” in previous mandates, establishing ambitious goals, such as the creation of 100,000 new jobs and the reduction of settlements in the country. He committed to bringing sanitation to more locations and creating policies that address mental health and child poverty problems, demonstrating a holistic approach to address the challenges facing Uruguay.

The essence of his speech was based on a call for unity, not only within the coalition, but also with those who, although they did not vote for him, deserve to be heard and represented. Delgado affirmed his desire to be a president who dialogues and seeks consensus, and made a powerful call to action, encouraging those present to transmit a message of hope to all corners of the country. “Let them go to sleep tonight saying that Uruguay is in good hands,” he concluded.
