The IOC accuses Moscow of having violated the Olympic truce

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) accused Moscow on Thursday of having violated the Olympic truce when invading Ukraine, and announced his willingness to offer humanitarian assistance to Ukrainian athletes.

It’s a statement, the IOC “strongly condemns the violation of the truce Olympic by the Russian government”.

At the same time he indicated that The 193 states that make up the UN adopted a resolution on December 2, 2021 which appeals for the respect of the Olympic truce for the Beijing 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Games from seven days after the start of the Olympic Games, on February 4, until seven days after the closing of the Paralympic Games, which take place from February 4 to March 13.

“IOC President Thomas Bach today reiterates its call for peace launched in the speeches he gave at the opening and closing ceremonies of the Olympic Games,” the IOC said in its statement.

The IOC also showed its “serious security concern of the Olympic community in Ukraine”.

The agency set up a working group responsible for closely monitoring the situation and “coordinating, as far as possible, humanitarian assistance to members of the Olympic community in Ukraine”.
