In Niterói, 38 people are taken to the police station for electoral crimes

The Regional Electoral Court of Rio de Janeiro (TRE-RJ) reported that, on Sunday morning (27), there were seven incidents of electoral crimes in the state, all in Niterói, in the metropolitan region of Rio de Janeiro. Voters from Niterói and Petrópolis, in the mountainous region, return to the polls to choose, in a second round, the mayor of each city. Voting goes until 5pm. The second round of the election only takes place in cities with more than 200 thousand inhabitants where the winner of the first round did not reach 50% plus one of the total valid votes.

According to TRE-RJ, there were five replacements of electronic voting machines by 1:30 pm. Four in Niterói, Metropolitan Region of Rio de Janeiro, and one in Petrópolis.

Fifth largest electoral college in the state, Niterói has 410,032 voters able to choose the future mayor. The dispute is between Rodrigo Neves (PDT), who governed the city for two terms (2013-2020), and federal deputy Carlos Jordy (PL). In the first round, Neves had 48.47% of the valid votes. Jordy won 35.59%.

In Petrópolis, in the mountainous region of the state of Rio, 245,177 people are eligible to choose the new mayor. In the ninth largest electoral college in Rio de Janeiro, there are 124 voting locations with 911 ballot boxes.

The dispute is between councilor Hingo Hammes (PP) and state deputy Yuri Almeida (Psol). In the 1st round, Hammes had 49.96% of the valid votes. Yuri won 17.77%.
