Marco Vargas explained that, among the motor pumps they verified, they would be from farmers and companies, due to the size they extract the water. “(The motor pumps) are from farmers and companies, from both, because there are quite large pumps that I don’t think are from small farmers,” he said.
He pointed out that given this, they have asked to file the respective complaints. “We have already passed the information to the Chira-Piura Special Project (PECHP), which is responsible for the operation of the canal (Daniel Escobar), so that they can make the respective complaints,” he said.
Likewise, he made an urgent request to the National Police. “(We ask) that (the motor pumps) be intervened and that there be a permanent police presence to prevent the water that is intended for human consumption from staying in these companies or in the farmers who are placing their pumps in the canal,” he said.
Given this problem that they have been having, he indicated that the Curumuy Plant has paralyzed its work. “(…) We do not have water at the Curumuy Plant. It has been paralyzed (since Friday),” Marco Vargas emphasized to Correo.
Faced with this crisis, several sectors of Piura have been suffering from the shortage of water in their homes, which has led the EPS Grau to implement emergency measures to mitigate the impact.
