With various activities commemorated This Sunday, October 27, in Dajabón, the 179th anniversary of the Battle of Beller, whose feat consolidated the Dominican independence.
The commemoration of the patriotic deed began with a parade civic military through the streets of the aforementioned southern province until reaching the esplanade of the monument to the brawl between Haitians and Dominicans in 1845, where several floral offerings were placed.
He mayor of Dajabón, Santiago Riverón, called on the country to defend the homeland as did the national heroes who fought for the Dominican Republic to be free and independent.
The event, which was attended by authorities military and civilians, among them Governor Severina Gil, General Reynoso Grin, director of the Northern Command; Colonel Jiménez Alsiniega, commander of the Fourth Brigade, and Juan Pablo Uribe, president of the National Ephemerides Commission.

The forces Dominicans who defeated the Haitians in October 1845who had built a fort in the Beller savanna, was commanded by Francisco Antonio Salcedo.
As they fled, the foreigners burned Dajabón.
