AREQUIPA, Peru – Transfermóvil, the most used mobile application in Cuba, recently received an update that incorporates a new function. The platform now allows you to reserve appointments for the purchase of currency at the Exchange Houses (CADECA).
The Cuban regime has described this development in its official press as “a great advance, since it speeds up the process of acquiring foreign currency and avoids long lines at branches.”
In this regard, the state media Cubadebate points out that “with just a few clicks, users can request their turn from the comfort of their homes or anywhere with an internet connection.” This, without mentioning the lack of availability of foreign currency in the CADECAS, one of the obstacles of this new alternative and which forces Cubans to continue resorting to the informal market.
In any case, although the Transfermóvil application offers the most convenient option to manage this procedure, Cubans who do not have a smartphone or have an Apple phone can try to reserve their turn through USSD codes.
These codes are a sequence of numbers that are dialed on the telephone keypad and allow access to different services.

Since its launch on February 10, 2015, the Transfermóvil application continues to be at the forefront of electronic commerce in Cubaby exceeding 600 million operations carried out at the end of June of this year.
A state broadcaster report Radio Progress points out that the figure represents a growth of 15% compared to the same date in 2023. 65% of cellular network users use this payment gateway.
