Bolivia is kidnapped by a political party that is stealing its hope and future. 14 days of blockade have already passed. The internal struggle in the Movement Towards Socialism, the excessive ambition of Evo Morales and the lack of determination of the Government of Luis Arce are creating a catastrophic reality for the country.
Recently published surveys indicate that the percentage of Bolivians who think that things are going in the wrong direction and that they are going to get worse rather than better is skyrocketing. The blockade is not only a lack of respect and consideration for citizens’ right to free movement, but also an accurate attack that bleeds the national economy and is forcing the closure of companies and loss of jobs.
The president of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce (Cainco), Jean Pierre Antelo, affirms that citizens and companies survive one day at a time, instead of planning how they will face the next year. He maintains that the country is being robbed of hope and the future. And he is not the only one nor is it just the voice of Santa Cruz that wants to be heard. In Cochabamba there is despair, because it is the department hardest hit by the protest measures of Evo Morales and his like; while La Paz is also overwhelmed. The multiplying effect of this protest measure is lacerating the country’s economy.
At the blockade points there is greater aggression every day. Not only are there people with firearms, but people have also been detected going between roadblocks carrying a lot of money in caskets that they put on their backs and that would serve to pay for the “service” of preventing passage. vehicular.
All of this has a single purpose, which is the sectarian desire for Evo Morales to evade justice, recover total power of the country and be qualified as a candidate for the Presidency in the 2025 national elections, and then be declared the winner without considering the will of the Bolivians. He already did it several times, trampling on the Constitution and democracy.
Morales, among the blockade strategies, once again surrounds the most populated cities, without really caring about the impact on people’s pockets. And to this is now added the armed attack on the Police, with people wielding shotguns and who are willing to kill or die. To what extent will such illegality be allowed? There are intellectual and material authors of these excesses and the Public Ministry with its new head should act accordingly.
The Government of Luis Arce, on the other front of the Movement Towards Socialism, announces unblocking, but they have been useless because the routes remain closed, while in the cities and in the political class the demands for more forceful action grow.
Thus, the country is captured by two sides of a political party that is showing clear signs of not knowing how to get Bolivia out of the deep hole in which it finds itself. With what arguments can Evo Morales become president again if the only thing he is doing at this moment is causing deep damage to the country?
It is urgent that the Government listen to citizen voices and restore order in the country. The roadblocks and violence have suffocated Bolivians, who only ask for consistency between words and actions. The Constitution establishes mechanisms to do so and it cannot be that a lack of determination wins against the rioters who hit Bolivia.
