CDMX: They anticipate almost 11,000 million in economic benefits for Day of the Dead

Economic benefits increase in CDMX

The Secretary of Tourism of Mexico City, Alejandra Frausto, highlighted in a statement that for the Day of the Dead festivities, more than 80% hotel occupancy has been recorded in the city, 10% more than the previous year.

The Chamber of Commerce, Services and Tourism of the capital (Canaco) estimated that in the last week of October and the first days of November the sector is expected to benefit 10,981 million pesos, which represents an increase of 26.7% compared to 2023.

This figure contrasts with the 2,000 million pesos that the Mexico City government itself initially estimated as an economic benefit from the Day of the Dead activities.

The president of Canaco-CDMX, José de Jesús Rodríguez Cárdenas, pointed out that the sale of flowers will bring with it an economic benefit of 70 million pesos and will benefit 4,587 businesses related to the sale of these products.

He estimated that in 2024 more than 2 million people will go to the cemeteries to visit their deceased and that the commercial lines most benefited by these festivities will be those selling flowers, bread, sweets, costumes, as well as businesses such as self-service stores. , hotels, entertainment venues, bars and dance centers.
