Surprise and indignation were caused by the felling and removal of historic trees in the district of El Tambo, in the province of Huancayo, in addition to the removal of the monument to the peasant. Neighbors criticized the mayor’s actions for not conserving the district’s green areas.

Councilors from the district of El Tambo and Huancayo arrived at the scene and spoke out on the matter, “This really got out of hand, he is inept, he is incapable for colliding with nature”said Councilor Percy Núñez, in an interview for Radio Huancayo, likewise Marco Antonio Coz, said that “the mayor acted like a criminal in the early morning”.
