He government has announced a significant measure that seeks to reduce the size of the State and generate additional income: the sale of more than 400 properties that belong to the national State. This decision, made official through Decree 950/2024, aims to raise approximately 800 million dollars through the public auction of real estate throughout the country.
The State Asset Administration Agency (AABE) will be in charge of carrying out this sales process. According to the decree of governmentthe measure is justified by the need to reduce “unnecessary expenses” and improve the efficiency of the State. The properties that will be put up for sale include public buildings, railway properties, surfaces adjacent to national routes and land in rural areas, among others.
One of the most notable cases is the 919 square meter land where the offices of the National Institute of Agricultural Technology (INTA) currently operate on Cerviño Avenue 3101/67, in the heart of Barrio Norte, one of the most exclusive areas of the City of Buenos Aires.
This building, which consists of 3,030 square meters and houses 148 employees of INTA and the company Innovaciones Tecnológica Agropecuarias SA (INTeA SA), will be one of the first to be auctioned. He government justifies the sale by arguing that the use of the property does not comply with the AABE’s “Manual of Workspace Standards”, and that the custody of the building represents a high cost for the Federal Police.
Another property that will be auctioned is one of 5,233.94 square meters located at Avenida de los Italianos 365/75, where offices of the Cybersecurity area operate with a team of approximately 45 people.
As in the case of INTA, the government argues that the current use of space is below the AABE standards, which establish that between 8 and 12 square meters should be allocated per person.
Domestic sales
The measure of Government It also includes the sale of land in several provinces, such as Buenos Aires, Santa Fe and Córdoba. In the province of Buenos Aires, for example, properties will be auctioned in towns such as Avellaneda, Bahía Blanca, General Pueyrredón, Junín, La Plata, Lezama, Lincoln, Morón, Pergamino, Pilar, Tigre and Tres de Febrero.
The decree also takes up 13 regulations signed by former president Mauricio Macri between 2016 and 2019, which authorized processes for the alienation of properties owned by the national State and that did not come to fruition.. The AABE, led by the young economist Nicolás Pakgojz, will be in charge of carrying out these auctions, which will begin before the end of the year and will be progressively published on the organization’s official website.
