Director of the Cicpc says that the death of VP leader Edwin Santos “was an accident”

Douglas Rico reported in a statement that Voluntad Popular activist, Edwin Santos, died after hitting his motorcycle against a tree. However, the political party reported that the leader had been missing since October 23 and that until this Thursday he was at the headquarters of the Guasdualito Dgcim.

The national director of the Scientific, Criminal and Criminal Investigation Corps (Cicpc), Douglas Rico, reported in a statement on the night of this Friday, October 25, that the death of the Voluntad Popular (VP) activist in Apure Edwin Santos “was a matter of an accident.”

“The Cicpc reports in a responsible and professional manner that he was located on the main road, via El Nula, without vital signs as a result of a traffic accident after the motorcycle he was driving hit a tree,” Rico said through the Instagram social network.

The Cicpc in its report reports that Santos’ date of death is 48 to 72 hours and that the autopsy revealed a skull fracture, facial trauma and blunt wounds in the left maxillary region.

The official also said that “he rejects all false news, given by some media outlets and spokespersons, that try to manipulate and inform that the national government may be behind this unfortunate event.”

Voluntad Popular reported this Friday afternoon in a statement that Santos “was murdered after being kidnapped by members of the State security agencies” and that they learned that at least until October 24 the activist was in the Dgcim headquarters located in Guasdualito.

The human rights organization Provea pointed out that this fact could mean “a possible extrajudicial execution and crime against humanity,” which could be added to those already being investigated by the UN Fact-Finding Mission on Venezuela.

Different leaders and political parties they condemned the death of the announcer and activist from the Apure state and asked for a serious investigation to determine who is responsible.
