“These recommendations directly align with the G20 goals of building a fairer global economic system that not only promotes growth, but also social equity and environmental sustainability. Together, B20 and G20 share a common vision, to reform the global trading system to respond to the challenges of the 21st century, creating a more connected, sustainable and inclusive world,” said Alckmin.

The B20 recommendations are divided into five guiding principles: promoting inclusive growth and combating hunger, poverty and inequalities; accelerate a just transition to net-zero emissions; increase productivity through innovation; strengthen the resilience of global value chains; and value human capital.

According to Alckmin, the Brazilian government, as host of the G20, has defended a multilateral trading system that ensures that rules are applied fairly and that trade and investment flows benefit both the most advanced and the most vulnerable economies.

“The B20 recommendations on strengthening trade and sustainable investments converge perfectly with the G20 efforts,” said the vice president.

One of the guiding principles of the document presented by businesspeople is to promote inclusive growth and combat hunger, poverty and inequalities. In the text, the B20 highlights that, by 2030, it is predicted that almost 600 million people will be chronically undernourished in the world, with women and residents of rural areas being disproportionately more affected by food insecurity.

“The theme that permeated the G20 discussions and that is echoed in the B20 recommendations is the inclusion of women in international trade. The experience of Brazilian programs has demonstrated that training and supporting female leaders is fundamental to creating a more diverse and inclusive environment in business. It is important to highlight that, for the first time in history, this topic was prioritized in the context of G20 trade and investments”, highlighted Alckmin.

The B20 Summit Brasil was attended by business leaders who coordinated the private sector forum’s task forces and which resulted in recommendations for the G20. Participating were Ricardo Mussa, CEO of Raízen; Francisco Gomes Neto, CEO of Embraer; Gilberto Tomazoni, CEO of JBS; Fernando de Rizzo, CEO of Tupy; Paula Bellizia, VP Latam at AWS Services; Luciana Ribeiro, co-founder of EB Capital; Walter Schalka, advisor to Suzano; and Claudia Sender, business council executive.

“It was clear to all of you how close the B20 and the G20 are in this edition. We had the chance to present our proposals to the Brazilian government and the G20 representatives over time and we are clearly very aligned, we hope that this leads to their proposals, our joint proposals, which are well considered by the G20, its representatives and leaders , when they meet next month in Brazil”, said B20 Chair, Dan Ioschpe.
