PJ sentences this Monday the 28th to Elena Iparraguirre, number two of Sendero Luminoso

Elena Iparraguirre

The Fourth National Criminal Appeals Chamber of the National Superior Court will dictate this Monday, October 28, starting at 10 in the morning, the sentence against number 2 of Luminous Path Elena Iparraguirre and more than forty people related to the terrorist organization and the Movement for Amnesty and Fundamental Rights (Movadef) in the framework of the so-called Perseus case.

In addition to Iparraguirre, there are also María Pantoja Sánchez, Osmán Morote Barrionuevo, Margot Liendo Gil, Victoria Trujillo Agurto, Florindo Flores Hala ‘comrade Artemio’, Alfredo Crespo Bragayrac, Fernando Olórtegui Crispín, Oswaldo Esquivel Caicho, among others.

This case also included the genocidal Abimael Guzmán, who died in September 2021, so the Judiciary ordered the filing of the actions against him.

According to the prosecutor’s accusation, Movadef was part of Sendero Luminoso and received financing from the narcoterrorist activities of the remnants of the organization.

By virtue of this, the Public Ministry has requested penalties that range between 20 years and life imprisonment, in addition to the payment of civil reparation of 2 and a half million soles.
